The NFL Season is my favorite season of the year!
I was introduced to football by my boyfriend at the time; and as a young Canadian lady who knew nothing about the game I choose “my team” based on uniform colors, good looking players and my obsession with Jon Gruden (aka Chucky). Yes, it’s been an emotional rollercoaster cheering for the Tampa Bay Buccanners for over 15 years. l’ve been to 10 stadiums and over 20 games so far. When I travel to see live games, my pre-gaming includes bottomless mimosas. I pop bottles when we score a touchdown and I drown my sorrow in the bottom of the bottle when the tides turn in last quarter and we’re left with a loss.
I never make plans on Sunday with friends who won’t watch the game, and I plan my workout around the Bucs kickoff time.
It’s no surprise then, that the NLF ‘s lady viewership has been increasing year after year.
In 2017, the NFL estimated roughly 45% of football fans were female. Super Bowl 51 in 2017 ratings were down about 3% overall and the lowest in eight years, but women constituted about 49% of the 108 million-plus people who watched the game. Without increasing interest from women, NFL ratings would be sliding more steeply than they already are.
